Note that Fine Tuning Performance will not touch your car if there’s any non-OEM spec parts on it. Also, they’re the newest Malone dealer in the greater Seattle area, but won’t even sell you any tunes that they deem to be not 100% street legal (such as Malone’s EGR delete add-on). 💩

Based on one previous comment, some of the listings for Florida are not current. Does anyone have any recent contacts/experience with any TDI mechanics in Florida ? Thanks

I just contacted Keith Scarborough in Tampa and he too is no longer doing work. Map needs updating.

I work with owner at Venture Autowerks in Jupiter. We both started out on VW and I end up with the TDIs.

I've now worked on @SeattleMK4Golf_BEW car a second time with needed time to give it a proper run down. For the love of god never take your vehicle to Mouse Meat in Tacoma Washington. Vacuum pipe to brake booster was very badly cracked causing major braking issues. His new turbo was installed with the rod length set at 15. This likely with some help from the vacuum issue at some point caused an overboost situation which resulted in him popping the turbo piping to the intercooler. Rather than dropping the pancake pipe to snap the pipes back together properly Mouse Meat wedged it back together best they could and ran a sheet mettle screw through the inter cooler intake and the connecting pipe. Bew's inter cooler needs patched and he needs a new hose. Confirming his cam seal was either very defective or they buggered up the install. I ended up replacing his cam sensor as it was throwing CELs but I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to all the oil coming down. They failed to use an actual egr block plate on the egr side deleting his egr cooler, cobbled together junk they used was leaking badly. His car also needed a bunch of basic maintenance they didn't catch or recommend, but mainly a shop that damages parts, installs things incorrectly, and fails to catch major safety issues like a split brake booster pipe should not be on this list INMHO. I did tell Bew he could/should take the car back to them to TRY to get them to fix the cam seal, but he would need to check torque specs and his torsion value afterword, and after that he should never go there again.

TLDR: Mouse Meat in Tacoma does shoty shaddy work don't take your car there if you care about it.

Have used them in the past for maintenance and troubleshooting. Not cheap, but a very clean shop and they had a tech who was using Vag-Com. Hard to find anyone in the South Louisiana and Mississippi area who will even work on TDIs, much less find someone who you can trust. The dealership won't touch mine bc I didn't have the fix done on it and since I have a salvage title, they won't do it under warranty (not that I want it, but I asked).

I have over 100 five star reviews on Google, many from satisfied VW owners.
Used Mike last week for my 2012 CJAA DSG Sportwagen. Will absolutely recommend and use again. Drove 2 hours from New Orleans to Lafayette, La to have him take a look at my car after talking with him on the phone, very nice guy and very knowledgeable on TDIs and VAG cars. Not a lot of options in Louisiana but he did my timing belt for a *very* reasonable price, fixed an oil leak (oil pan was leaking), and fixed my sunroof drains that were leaking into the car. He also took the time to explain what to look for with the DMF and when to tell if it's going before it completely gives out.

Please add him to the list of gurus. His address has changed and is now at 111 Dear Street.

For reference I'm an automotive engineer and usually perform all my own services on my vehicles.

Looking for someone who can do a timing belt in the Knoxville/NE TN area on a 2011 Audi TDI (A3); I presume same engine as the VWs; its common-rail and my VCDS can talk to it. It had some codes that appeared to be related to a HPFP failure, cleared them, looks good but from the mileage it appears to be overdue for a belt and we all know what happens if it breaks so.... yeah.

I have the tools and knowledge to do A4s, but not the newer common-rail engines.

Hey, I would like to be added on this list.
My shop is
Anchor Motorworks
12110 N Hwy 5
Sunrise Beach, Mo 65078
Info@anchormotorworks.net

For many years I have been supplying new and remanufactured starters and alternators for vw tdis, and now have taken the leap to start my own shop where I still do the starters and alternators (for all vehicles) but mechanical work is limited to small diesels, mainly vw/audi/Porsche tdis, but also including BMW, Mercedes, jeep, vm-motori, Mazda, including some of the oddball old diesels.

OP needs refreshing

Just thought I'd say that Oldpoopie in Oregon is located in East Portland, 7 minutes from the Ross Island bridge. Could you update the original post to reflect that he is located here?

Justin changed out my timing belt and repositioned my tranny last night. We ran into some problems when a stripped out bolt hole was discovered in the auxillary belt tensioner. Amazingly, Justin and I went to the 24 hour auto parts store 4 times (they had a heli coil kit mis packaged), so we had to drill a new hole and do a bolt/nut combination for that.

Justin showed dogged determination and meticulously detailed work. He is amazing. No, I do not profit in any way from this...I'm just astounded. He truly is one of the Tdi Guru's!

Although I was pleased with my last timing belt job at Springfield German Auto, Justin is just amazing, charging $275 for labor. Parts were reasonable too (I think the TB kit was $250--ish for the complete 'deluxe' kit.) For comparision, last time at Springfield German Auto, my total bill for the same service was $795. That time, I purchased Diesel Geeks's deluxe TB kit.

Well worth the 2 hour drive from Eugene/Bend/The coast/Olympia. I cannot rave enough about his excellence of service and professionalism.
I am in Gig Harbor. Anyone a little closer?

150 miles. Too far for generic mechanics’ work but for a timing belt it’s worth a drive to get the job done right at a reasonable price.

Another plug for Scott at JoeTown Auto in Iowa by Kalona. Just did my 2014 TDI beetle. Timing belt, water pump and coolant. OEM VW parts. $974.
They don't advertise. 319-683-2440 EDIT....It was $974. that was a timing belt kit (w/new rollers and all hardware)water pump, serp belt and coolant). Labor was $350, rest was parts. The correct tools to do it yourself are $300. This was a no brainer.

Does anyone know of any good places around Southern NH for a timing belt on a MK6 TDI?

Thanks!

There are just too many to list....
Yeah, parts for those can be difficult to find... lots of them are NLA, and shops don't want something left abandoned there. So I can see why. We turn certain older cars away all the time, although it's been years since I had an AHU or 1Z car come in here.

That I understand, and I prefer to do the work myself normally, but I'm in NM for work for a bit and don't have access to my tools or a space to work atm.

I was worried it was the front wheel bearings going out, but I think now that the intermittent grinding from the front wheels is just the backing plate contacting the rotor. I'll just deal with that until I get a chance to fix it myself. 430k on this AHU and counting...

It looks like everyone on the list for Georgia is outdated. Any recommendations for Georgia. South Atlanta or middle GA. But for good and HONEST pretty much anywhere in the state. I am not in a county that requires emission testing stuff. Also this is the 3rd year my 13 passat has had what I call Christmas in July. All the lights on the dash go off. Had wheel speed sensors replaced the last two years. It is literally almost a year to the day when this happens. Car drives fine and the lights will go back off in a few miles????

Mike at M&M. First page of this thread. Click on the "NJ." Worth the trip.
I just used Mike to put in a new flywheel. He was fantastic! The only problem is how far he is from my home & work. The wife almost killed me when it was time to pick the car up. I was hoping there was someone a little more local, but am having a hard time finding someone who regularly works on TDIs
