Well, I was thinking that I would do it on the 14th, I wish that it could be better planned as far as that goes. It may actually be after that. I am not entirely sure all I know is the next two weekends are booked for me.

As I research my operation I'm wondering if I should put it off for some months. (It's only a knee) Winter may be a better time to be laid up. I'm just not sure yet. I want to make the next one & I will if it's possible.

Well, I finished another car project today. Unfortunately it was also for my sickly Golf. I replaced the bushings in the dogbone mount with some 70 durometer bushings made by Energy (the original circular bushing was completely torn up).

I didn't need to use a jack to move the engine back into place to reconnect. I just had a friend give a little push on the intake manifold ("Little" being the operative word). The other two mounts are that squishy/in need of replacing (original at 130k) that we could move it a full inch with just a little pressure.

Bonuses:
Better clutch engagement (no more bouncing even on the greasy original clutch)
Less slop/wheel hop on take off (hurray!)
Holds the center of gravity in turns better!

Bad:
Slight vibration at idle (I like it)
I noticed a torn End-link bushing while I was under there.

Back to TDI:
I don't think I can wait for a G2G for the fuel filter replacement/upgrade. She's down to 28mpg mixed driving and cruise control either doesn't engage or is scary. In addition, the total lack of power above 3k is gross. Based on our maintenance records, there is 21k on the filter.

Does anyone carry a "kit" for the upgrade?

I think there are several kits out there. I have the Nictane 1 micron kit. The vendors for the other kits escape my numb mind right now.

But Nicktane also sells the head unit that uses the Cat 2-micron filter, so replacements are cheaper and easier to find.

If I did not already have the Lubrication Specialist product, I would buy the Nicktane filter system but the Cat 2-micron filter. The Nicktane system seems to have fewer problems with air getting sucked in through the thermostatic-T.

14th works for me. I will have my 304SS 2.5 down pipe and cool stainless steel exhaust cutter by then. Bought the SS exhaust cutter from a company in England!

Knee replacements can be done most anytime. :) My left knee is not in good shape but if I am not too wild it doesn't bother me a lot.

I look forward to seeing how well your new cutter works on the stainless of my tail pipe. I've canceled the August 11 surgery date I will reschedule this winter. I'll be keeping my knee but I get some cartilage repair & a replacement for the ACL.

14th I'll be in Wisconsin for a wedding... Would love to drive the jeep (with cummins turbo diesel inside) to the gtg rather than to the wedding haha

I need some input on the GTG I am thinking either the 14th or the 21st. I am leaning very much towards the 21st. It just seems better. Let me know guys!
I'd like 14 better but I'll go on the 21st if that's the choice.

Oh 21st works just as well for me.

Pretty funny I have heard from both Mac tool and KD that they cannot cut stainless. Yes it will be fun to see how my tool works.

Equal for me. Just need to know so I can hold whichever weekend. I know the car is due for its 80K checkup soon and I'll probably have that done by Midwest Motorsports cuz I think I'll have some other (different car) work for them to do by then. But I can hold wrenches and shove engines into place and stuff like that. :)

21st seems like a better choice for me at this point.

I'm planning to be up by Lake Vermilion on the 14th for a Coworker's annual "throwdown bbq" (he and his brother make ungodly amounts of world class BBQ and all the side dishes and have "impartial judges" rate the best). 21st I may have a bachelor party, but it isn't set in stone any harder than soapstone yet.

Do you have a grill available? I think brats and sauerkraut would be nice. Of course my sweetie would be managing the food again.

The nice BBQ that we used to bring was from WI so we will not bring it this time.

for those that didn't know, I have been working on installing a 4-cylinder turbo diesel in a jeep wrangler. You can check it out a little on my website, or follow the thread on this forum: http://www.mn-jeep.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5938

i need to update the website, so the other thread is probably better to look at if you're interested in it.

Yay! The 21st means I can bring a friend (who would be in NC seeing a Marine Corps buddy who is shipping off to Afghanistan on the 14th).

And as it turns out, I won't be getting the great BBQ. A good friend's bachelor party just got scheduled for the 14th. There goes my Rocky Patel (cigar) collection :p

do we need a grill? My caddy happens to make a killer tail gate machine since it can fit a grill and all the other fixin's for this kinda thing! Let me know I can bring such items. I even have a mobile fridge.

My wife decided to test her spatial reasoning skills yesterday in the parking ramp where she works. She rashed the front left corner of her bumper pretty terribly on a concrete post. Sigh. She's going to turn this thing into a beater before I can get my Golf returned to good order.

I didn't see this speeding Pontiac for the tall corn. She must have been doing 50 mph on the gravel. She spun 180 degrees & 120 ft. The 2 gal open gas can in the trunk went upside down. This could have been so much worse but she did have the right of way. Ouch.
