I've actually changed the oil twice this year thinking that it may be contributing to this problem.

First I ran some Mobil 1 in it for 2,000 miles or so. Then ran LiquiMoly engine flush for 15 mins. And then put in Rowe 507 spec oil. 5w-30 of course.

One other random thing I tried.... I put the car on my 5amp trickle charger overnight. And both yesterday and today it started without any hesitation. I'm going to continue this experiment a couple more days. See if it's a random fluke. But if this solves the problem, that would point to battery/alternator.

EDIT: This was a random fluke. The trickle charger had no consistent impact.

You mentioned temperature....
Did you check all the temperature sensors, are they all working?

I had long crank issue in the morning only if the outside temperature is higher then 55-60.
No any results after I changed:
- battery
- glow plugs
- glow plugs control module
- VVT
- lifter pump
- proper timing (camshaft and hpfp)

Only when I finished with retrofit of CP3 with proper tune - FINALY EVERYTHING LIKE IT SHOULD BE)

Thanks VAGent. I was totally unaware of the CP3 vs CP4.1 and just read a bunch. Thanks for your posts in the CP3 threads.
