Great Work Ryan, you'll have to drag it against my 530d when i get it sorted :p

how much more do you think the stock internals of the BKD can take ?

I wish I had the money to take you up on that offer right now. I just blew through all my cash on ski season, a timing belt, and a new set of tires. Hopefully we'll talk about it in the spring.

Cheers Guys, I think the BKD will hold up better than most think, only time will tell as i don’t really want to change anything unless it breaks, I’ve got a few sets of rods in stock but i want to bend one first! Ha-

Mikey, what power did yours make at the Fly without laughing gas?

bolting a 16v head onto an 8v block is easy but you have to change quite a few bits that makes just fitting the whole thing easier, if you can wire it up!

Smoke is a little more than I’d want at WOT, not a cloud but more than a haze, this will be tweaked out once i get my AFR setup and can actually monitor it precisely.

Videos will be posted ASAP

That power was made at 2.5bar boost (3500mb VCDS) we did try 2.7bar with a 2.8bar spike and it seemed no better on the road. Cant wait to get a ported head and cams on there.

Another slightly overdue update, we have been down at Santa Pod all day today taking the Jetta up the strip. I managed to put in exactly 20 runs back to back without even a hiccup! All the runs had a terminal speed of over 100mph even when I selected reverse or had the odd missed gear!! As this was my first time out drag racing launching was the main issue so there are still a few tenths to gain and a less corner friendly suspension setting might help too but I’m happy as it’s exactly as it drives on the road!

The best run was a 13.8419 and the best terminal speed was 105.43mph. AFAIK the Fastest FWD TDI of the day.
We missed the fastest TDI trophy by 0.4 sec. That went to a nice guy with a homebrew Mk2 Golf Synchro/Haldex sporting a PD150 Lump, Hybrid Turbo and 150bhp shot of Nitrous!!

It really begs the question, how on earth do you select reverse in a run???

LOL! I was thinking that too, I have to assume that he accidentally put it in reverse at the starting gates.

That has happened to me one (and only one!) time while waiting at a stop light. I noticed after a brief instant and stepped on the brakes... the faces in my rear-view mirror of the people in the car behind me were PRICELESS!! :D :D

Well we'll act as if we never saw that ;). Only affects your RT but not your ET anyway.

The first and only run I've ever made at a drag strip, I looked away from the timing lights for a moment, and when I looked back they had already changed several times and I had about .2 seconds to react. I panicked, and dropped the clutch too fast with too little rpm and killed it, very embarrassing!

I did make up for that slightly by getting it started and off the line in less than three seconds.. which put my total time just over 17sec. I came in at 102/13.9 with a stock FD3S (Rx7) and a passenger. Good times were had by all. :)

i don't know what it is but with this new 6 speed after coming out of neutral at a light i've managed to several times get it in reverse somehow and i'm not pushing down the shifter by any means. good thing i was never dropping the clutch or it'd make for an easy fender bender for my beater.

ALH Non AC bracket. Part #: 038 903 143 A or 038 805 145 A

Perfect if you wish to install a TDi into an older car without A/C or if you want to remove it from your A4!! £125 shipped - These are £350 from the dealer and i've sold a few when people need them badly!

Thanks!

Jolly good. I'm craving more power already!
To be honest I am just "getting by" with my warped manifold that is letting exhaust gases into the car every time I hoof it.... I don't want to go to the effort of removing the mani/turbo without having a new turbo to put in its place. ;)

I also need to save up for the downpipe too which is a bit of a pain, but the one on my car now leaks like a sieve. Was laughable when I did a smoke test on it recently....

most if not all 'bolt on kits' will require custom fitting to your car. To get the fit absolutely perfect to you car, you will need to jig about and a lot of times starting with an ebay kit ends up working out better.

its just food for thought and my own opinion.

We priced up Mk4 intercooler kits and i dont think a true bolt on solution is possible, no-one wants to pay £500++ and chop the car into bits!

We are making another batch of turbo's very soon so put your orders in now!!

Ryan,

I'm about 98% done installing the kit and a bunch of other goodies. Any tips on getting that inside cylinder 1 intake manifold bolt tightened up? I can't figure out any way to get a wrench in there.

Also, what is the silver bolt for? I can't figure out where I was supposed to use it.
