I purchased a copy of the 4366 from this guy. It arrived last night and installed without issue. HOLY COW, what a difference in response! Happy customer here.
I'm not sure I want to put the $ down for the updated maps since I can use my cell phone just as easy.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed previously since there are so many posts in this thread, but I'm just hoping I can get this fixed. I have a 2014 Passat TDI SEL that I purchased used last year. The RNS510 was working fine at the time of purchase, but slowly seemed to run worse and worse, until the point where it's at now, which is that it's stuck in a reboot cycle and never boots up. Unfortunately I didn't find this forum until until it stopped booting up or I would have grabbed the version info, but after reading the first post in this thread i'm assuming since it's a 2014 that it's probably a K unit with 4369. My question is, does this sound like a dying RNS510 Unit that would just need to be replaced? or is this something that a firmware update to say 5382 would fix?

I would absolutely update the firmware to the latest version. It solves several issues. I have a 2014 Passat TDI SEL also with the RNS-510 with SSD. I upgraded to 5382 and that solved all the issues. I then unlocked the Video in Motion and updated to the latest maps. I works very well now. I believe there is at least a 50/50 chance that by updating the RNS-510 firmware will fix it.

I have a '14 EOS with the RNS 510 that is very slow to start and switches to the backup camera very slowly... (sounds like the same problem most have). I'm wondering if there are any further FW updates that can help this thing out and improve user experience.

I was looking for a firmware update for my radio since its been acting up lately and after reading the first post I'm confused. I have firmware 4369 installed on my radio but the post says it could brick it, but I don't know which firmware I could update to since I have a J unit? Which firmware could I update it to or should I just stick to flashing the same firmware and hope the issues get fixed? Where could I find the firmware?

Hello Forum. I would greatly appreciate some assistance with updating my maps.

My info:

2013 Passat SE TDI

Replaces RCD with RNS510
The sticker on the radio says 3C0035864, but secret test menu says:
Nav Unit 3C0035684C
HW-Version H17
SW-Version 1140
Navteq Map Version 6399

V12M disk will not install and I keep getting an error message and the unit spits out the disk. I have been reading info on multiple forms, trouble shooting for a few weeks, and finding valuable information, and still I am left with no maps update success. VW technicians could not figure out the issue either.

Does anyone have an RNS 510 - 1T0035686F year of production 2018 and could check what a 30GB or 40GB disk has and what disk designation, i.e. manufacturer and model. I would like to verify that the radio has the original factory disk and that no one has rummaged in it.

Updated with 4366 and glitches are gone.

I just bought a 2012 Passat Highline TDI and am looking to update the firmware and maps. I was hoping for some help confirming which versions to use.

I believe this means my RNS 510 is a revision F. But what does the part number being 3C80 instead of 3C00 indicate?

Current SW version is 3690

Planning on trying to go to version 4366

Current Maps version is 7565

Planning on going to V12 - 8534

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Jayski Rocks when it comes to working knowledge of these RNS510 units!!! I had a unit that I was given that would not boot past the Start up screen. He helped me with updating the unit and gave me more tips and tricks to help me resolve the issues I encountered than what I needed to get this radio transplanted it into my 13 Jetta TDI..
