After performing an oil change this was laying on the ground near the middle of the engine bay on the drivers side. Never seen it before and wasn't touching anything on that side of the engine.
This happened after I removed the skid plate.

Written on the top are

I think this is the cover for the +ve wire on your starter. It is right beneath the left hand side of the battery tray.

yup, that's a hot wire terminal cover for the starter

I remember taking the positive wire off the starter when I did my clutch job and thinking, "Boy, that looks dangerous. Is that right?"
