Well rats, the wife had the Jetta part of this tank. Told me I could kiss my high MPG average good bye (she was kidding of course, or was she?) But I knew I was in trouble when I checked the GPS and it reported a max speed of 89.2 MPH. Then she got mad cause I wouldn't show her how to find max speed and clear it on the Garmin. So she didn't know there was a max speed function on the GPS and I didn't know a 2003 Jetta TDI would do 89.2 except maybe downhill in a hurricane.

This was a quick trip I just made from Phoenix to Yuma and back. I kept to posted speed limits (65 MPH and 75 MPH). MFD said 48.1 MPG but its about 4.5 mph off.

Pushed it as far as I dare to get a 700 mile PD tank on winterized D2. I don't know how you Jetta drivers have the guts to go for 16+ gallon fillups, I was very worried about running dry.

I love my car...especially since my truck is an F350 that gets 20mpg on a good day. This is all freeway at 70-75mph. Not much weight in the car besides me and the wife, and the only mod to the car so far is the TDC tuning box. But the Scangauge shipped yesterday! :D

I will be getting some new tires, Nokian i3 :) within the next week so I wanted to start a new tank for them, I can't wait, I know they have to be a big improvement over the Good Year Eagle GLS OEM Tires that only gave me about 40,000 miles of use.:(

very good - you can give NO BLUE SCREEN & MLPSTDI some competition. Its working cause blue screen has posted 50+ several times now. DSG's were not to be seen up with DavidG's 5 speed just a few months ago.

100% Short trip city driving and the cold snap has made for the extra low MPG on this tank. Two strong factors at work here, engine is still way to new, under 10,000, short trip cold start penalty.:( Lifetime MPG is spot on the old EPA MPG ratings, 27+ MPG all city very short trip driving.:) The one road trip with this car back in July yielded 38 MPG with no attempt to drive for economy and stuck in very long back ups going through New York city and southern Connecticut. I love how strong this car is stock, a real monster on the Hwy. when you need it.:D

;) Last tank was 100% highway 65-70mph. Temps ranging from single digits below zero to single digits above zero (Fahrenheit). The first two tanks were mixed driving in cold weather.

Yes, you read it correctly. I drive the car on dry roads during the winter. When snow is predicated I fill up the tank since I don't know when I will drive it again.

If I could slow down to 60MPH, I would be over 50MPG, but at 70MPH with AC 47MPG is good. Speed limit is 70 and I think I would get run over if I slowed down. :( Currently with the cold I have no chance...

It's fun to laugh at all the people flying by and pulling me along in their wake...thus further increasing my fuel economy :D
