Can you say holy S#*!

This tank was a top off and I had 440.8 on the trip meter with just above half tank indicated. As always, I fill until I see fuel at the filler cap.

Mostly highway with a bit of 'power driving' in the mountains near the end of the tank. It was getting some turbo lag on upshifts, that is cleared up now. More pressure in the tires for this tank helped. Maybe getting the turbo fully back in the game will help a bit more on this next tank. MPG is getting closer to typical despite the winter blend diesel.

This was a top up to make a fully vented tank with some Chevron ULSD. Even with the cold temps we have had lately not bad for some city driving and two commuting trips into Downtown DC.;)

Well that is a record for the DSG - that must have been a hell of a tail wind - are you drafting - attaching a line to a passing truck :) - can you tell us how you do it. Are you using 506.01 oil, tires 51 psi. I know the BP fuel is very additized they always have been one of the best fuels.

I just able to make great gains reccently, up to 45.7 mpg my last 4 tanks.
I drive slow if there is no traffic 55 mph most is 62 to 65 mph.

I once ran 87 miles at 41 mph, that was indicated so it was more like 38 mph. It was non stop and I got 66. I rolled 2 stop signs, my motor was preheated and then fueled. 7/10 mile to Rt 441, 43 miles to Halopaw made a U turn and 43 miles back. Stopped at the 4 way stop at Yee Haw Junction there and back. I then stopped at my pump at home and filled, 1.3 gallons. Even with error I got 62 mpg but this was done at night on a deserted highway. I logged it with Vag-Com and the time and consumption matched.

Congrats I doubt anyone will beat you. EVER with a stock car.

I did 54MPG once, like NBS it wasn't a full tank, the room for error is a lot higher on half tanks. So I never really count it. BTW is was 300 miles at 55 MPH (only a few stops) with little AC and four adults.

How is it a lot higher? I fill mine until I see fuel sitting in the filler hole...should be just as accurate I would think.

Like I said I did 66 once but it was a test and by no means any kind of normal commute.

I think its fair that if the person is running their normal commute the MPG should be considered highest achieved.

only no blue knows for sure. If he did this during his normal operation then I think this is the highest number achieved by anyone on a normal commute. Although there is a guy who cliams a 57 mpg average with a DSG on the gov site. I also think this is a toll booth to toll booth only commute. The car sees nothing but turnpike miles so if he is at 55 mph no stops on a limited access highway, I guess this is possible. I may hit 46 this month wich would be a record month for me. Very little A/C, 30k on motor, 2nd OC of 507.00 and now I heat the engine to reduce wear and found it has helped mileage. I love my 17" wheels but there is a penalty involved. I ordered Koni FSD to compliment those 225/45/17's. My last mod will be improved brakes.

MPLSTDI - if you can fill up and beat blue screen he needs the incentive, you may be the only other DSG that can keep him on his toes.

I looked it up, wasn't 300 either opps. Also I did fill it to the filler hole, at the time I did it I posted it here and got a lot of crap. Mostly since it wasn't a full tank.

07/08/2006 228.90 4.216 all at 55MPH, maybe 3-4 stops,
54.3

Since a moved about five months ago it's been easy to get 46-47 @70, 505.01 oil everything stock.

Bah. Back to city driving at the worst times of the day.

*B96 is approximate and includes 16.391 gallons of B99 and 0.503 gallons of ULSD. I hate having to top off on the weekends.

I don't know how much extra work it would be for the folks who post the results of this "competition", but I would like to see monthly dollars spent figures added. When I post my results the money spent total is right there on my receipt. It could easily be posted. It would be very interesting to read the club total at the end of the month. I suspect the figure would be scary. The wife and I spent a total of $330.00 last month on fuel. (She drives a gasser). There is no doubt the economy is being impacted by this. My family is but one.
Is posting this feacible? Would anyone else be interested to see the information?

Feel free to post what ever else you want in your post, but I'm not sure I want to commit to doing that all the time for everybody.

To me this is valuable as mileage comparison, frame of reference, that I may appreciate the potential of the vehicle. Today, after filing the tank, there was a ramp up a high drawbridge over the intracoastal; in sport mode the car ran up to 4K rpm each shift, reaching 60 by top of bridge. Always letting it breathe, driving for the life of the car, not temporary high mpg., I am gratefull for this TDI forum. Thank you!

MPG: 39 worst tank in a year, very cold (I drove 300 miles at -10 or colder), and a one hour idling in my driveway. (not the plan)
