This kit was specifically manufactured for our NMS TDI Passats and the tune was too. Installing the first kit was a bit of a nightmare, we bumped our head and cut our knuckles all along the way because we had to figure out what parts were required for adapting this turbo to the NMS Passat and then, when we finally had it installed, the performance was hardly worth the price of the turbo, let alone all the time that went into modding parts to make this "Plug and Play". http://www.fixmyvw.com/garrett-cr190-gtd-turbo-for-cr-passat-tdi/
I am VERY happy to say though, that after spending about 40 hours with Mark Malone we were able to develop a tune for this setup that knocked the socks off our customer and provided the most powerful TDI Passat in the USA. Aside from power, this is also a super reliable setup with the Garrett GTD turbo installed, EGTs that never reach the limiter and enough torque to snap your head and press your body firmly into those nice leather seats. This was done with a tune providing just 28 psi sustained boost, more requested boost may provide greater power.
Warning:
This setup with the Malone Stage 3.5 NMS tune has enough power to spin the wheels through 3rd gear and if you have a stock manual clutch, you need not apply this upgrade with the 3.5 tune. DSG transmissions will be fine but yes, you will be able to make enough torque to cause flywheel shudder but you can avoid that by switch to manual or Sport Mode.
Special Notes:
VCDS procedure required before a DPF delete tune is done, a bench flash backup is required (ECU removal), tune updates can be done with FZ3 - http://www.fixmyvw.com/flashzilla-v3/
Flywheel shudder is likely and inevitable after 345 ft lbs of torque
EGTs are nice and low with GTD Turbo, you might not ever hit the stock limiter
We do not know how well this will work for cars with the EGR/DPF system active, results are not guaranteed to be "trouble free".
