Foreign orange plastic in coolant reservoir

Water pump blades? Heater valve parts? There aren't too many options.

not sure how, but it looks sort of like remnants of a dipstick tube :0 but on closer look, there are some flat sections that i don't believe the dipstick tube has

Also, that stuff could have come from a container the coolant was drained into in the past or mixed in or even funnel parts.

Yes that is correct. It is Meile replacement tank. I guess I need to look in a brand new tank to figure out what the orange plastic is supposed to do.

Sure it's not from the overflow tank itself?

I am assuming it is from the overflow tank itself. No easy way to audit replacement tanks. The size of some of the chunks defies flowing through the hoses which leads me to the assumption of a device inside the tank.
