Feeler: 97 B4 Passat, Tornado Red, 188k, SE PA, body rough

***SOLD*** Dad put it on the lawn - gone in a day. Thanks everybody.

My dad is looking to sell his B4. The following is his description:

I am second owner. bought at 148k miles
Have replaced Air conditioning compressor, battery, & rear brakes
~188k miles
Alpine stereo/CD player
Sport wheels
Sun/moon roof, does not leak
5-spd
Strong drive train, no engine or trans issues
40-45 mpg
fair tires

Worn upholstery but no broken seat frames or springs
no headliner
Rust in pictures and undercarriage, none structural
Exhaust disconnected from rear of cat conv

I have pictures, but they are pretty big and I need to shrink them. It would be an excellent donor for a swap, or an easy project car. Looking for advice on what to ask, or offers if anyone is interested.

How was it maintained? Timing belt? Records? Oil?

I would guess in the $2,500 to $3K range without knowing the answers, but probably not a lot more due to body rust. I bought mine for $3,200 without the body rust, but the rest was in hard shape...and I'd buy another in a second. Just my best guess.

Impeccable maintenance - have all of the records from the original owner who took it to the dealer for everything. TB's done on time, oil changed by dealer to 140K and then with Shell Rotella Synthetic for the last 40k.

Interior is clean but wear is about par with others of that vintage. One bad spot is driver's seat - Dad is a big guy and the seat shows it.
