ALH fan replacement

Does anyone know if the knockoff fans work, or should I buy the proper 2-fan VW part? I'm not looking forward to another summer with no AC, and since the fans dont activate when the AC is on, I figured step 1 is to replace them.

that's not diagnosis. there could be a couple very easy, $5 fixes to this

I've done the AC on, fans to full power, key on test, but not start. There is that fan controller under the battery tray I know plays a role in the operation and I've used febi fans. Can't say they last the longest, had one go in a year

To answer the OP's question directly, I've used aftermarket fans (TYC brand, I think) on a couple cars; still working fine.
I've also repaired (opened up the fan motor and cleaned / aligned the brushes) and those continue to work fine, too.

First option definitely the easier.
