I have Vag-Tacho (or Dash-Com, I always forget which one it is) - point is I can get SKC codes with it. I've never programmed a key but I'm told it's easier than cake with this tool, so no worries.
-BB
I've used it to both read my codes and program the keys. Super easy. However, I could not get it to read my 2006 bug BEW no matter what I tried.

So do I need to get fobs and new keys cut? I would like to get at least one new key for the Jetta but I have no idea what I need.

You'll need all the keys (fobs+valet) you will want to use w/the car. First step is clearing out all the old definitions so... you start from scratch every time. That's why you should bring all of them because they will ALL have to be re-learned. Once the memory is cleared and ready to learn, the instructions are to insert the new key(s) and turn the ignition on only and you will be signaled by the immob icon that it's been learned. Whether you can circumvent that, I don't know. Based on that, the keys should all be cut prior.

Here's a VIDEO showing the procedure...

What if you have had your immobilizer tuned out since it died? Just new cut keys at that point?
That leaves you with just the remote matching portion (not immob but getting the key to lock/unlock) to do. See HERE for info on that. Never been in this exact scenario but best guess if your Immobilizer has been disabled...

Yeah just need to do the remotes then but on my 03, sometime the immobilizer light will still blink so you might have that problem. At least the car will start and run normally.

I'm going to be doing 15 lbs of pulled pork. I'll plan on picking up a lot of stuff at Costco the day before too....
Probably be nice to have a couple veggie burgers for that crowd - and I don't mean grass fed beef (my brother in law, who's doing the windshield installation, fits in that category) ;).

Any more windshields?

Golf 2-door, 2k Silver. Red RTDI now gone but not forgotten!
How about rear hatch windows for Golf Aaron? (Those club members from the East Coast must drive through a lot of sand loaded snow)! The hatch window on my 03 two door is like totally gross with scratches!

Sure, do I need to get a quote, or are you having insurance do it?

Looks like we're going to have a lot of people here - looking forward to it. We'll also have some music set up. It's all going to be pretty laid back; which is I think what most people are looking for :).
Cheers!
