Hit 200k miles 2 weeks ago. Mileage has significantly decreased over the last 2-3 years with the addition
of the Jeep, and Judy's "21 Tacoma doing the towing of our new larger R-pod camper. Put a 1000 miles on the
Taco last week on a trip to Maine to visit her ageing mother. The 4x4 was handy in the 10" of snow we hit.
The Golf wouldn't have handled it.
The Golf probably needs better tires, takes a lot more than 10" to stop a MK4 ;)

We don't get enough snow here in SE PA to warrant a seperate set of tires. I fire up the Jeep locally for snow and ice,
but with climate change, it's happening a lot less than when I was a kid. For the winters I spent
in the 1000 Islands, it's 2 miles over the ice, snowshoes are what I wore, lol, and a long stick to check on
the state of the surface.

Back in the "good old days" there used to be a route from Clayton NY to Gananoque ON over the ice. It's been a
long time though since Lake Ontario froze solid.

My 03 Jetta Wagon is just hitting 696K km (432K miles). Still original engine and trans, pulling strong. Just did injection pump seals over the summer.

I'm the third owner... My buddy had it from about 150K to 527K by August of 2020, when he gave it to me.

It's simple and I love it. Got a spare engine ready for whenever it needs a swap. 👍🏻

I figure when I hit 500K miles, I will have gotten my money's worth. :D

I agree. If you keep er movin and have decent tread on your tires 10"+ is manageable as long as you have momentum or traction beneath the snow. I've been plowing through enough that I had it coming over the hood to the point visibility was not great at all. Thankfully the hwy's were plowed that time. Hitting drifts is pretty fun too until they pull you towards the ditch😜.

Last xmas eve a streamer off Georgian Bay dumped 5 feet in 8 hours. The highway was plowed but the off ramp wasn't. My son took the ramp at 120km/h in his wagon, made it less than 250 feet
Oh god i remember that. I was on my way up to Sudbury and crossing through Parry Sound and it just went white out. Couldnt see anything, following seeing a truck I could barely see and not stopping. Made the mistake of getting off at the Georgian Bay truck stop with the petro. Surprised I didnt get stuck getting off, getting back on the highway was a fun time. After like 15 minutes, it was clear.

Sorry I couldn't respond directly any sooner...

Commute - back and forth to work... ~40,000 a year... ~70-75 miles each way.

Cruise control on... chill, listen to Bob and Tom in the morning drinking coffee and i'm at work. Little traffic, rarely enough to cause any change in the Cruise control.

its only about 1.25 hours in the car each way sometimes less rarely more. And no stress - few idiots.

And there are of course the trips to teh DC area, and New England all the time to see family (and friends)...
Same mine has 236,000 miles, 2001 beetle 1.9 ALH. Drive it 67 miles each way to work and back. Still ironing out some wrinkles in my sleeves though. I love the car, like driving around a little go cart/ race car.

I may be bias as I've only ever ridden in the beetles, but dont they handle nicely?! I love mine.

Absolutely! I lowered mine on coilovers and she has a nice set of tires. She takes turns and curves at a high speed like you wouldn’t believe. And rides smooth. I love the car but she is being onry rn

I had read about that. You'll get er all sorted out I'm sure. Mine has given me lil troubles here and there. Nothing that can't be fixed.
Lol, sounds similar yet opposite of my car. Mine is stock height with oversized tires (fills in the wheel well nice and good) riding on bilstien HD's. It does not ride smooth. You can feel every crevice in the road, but I like it that way. Front end is noice and tight.
Back end leaves some to be desired. My rear bushings could use an upgrade, but I truck on.

My wagon doesn't sound cool at all. I barely have any spooling noises. It's just injection pump clatter. Lots of engine work and a bigger turbo didn't help the coolness factor. I want to swap to a larger turbo, like a 2060 to get me into that sweet300-330hp range, but with something like a 9 blade turbo or something that would also make fun spooling noises to entertain me during the summer driving with the windows down time.
My sedan had great whistle with just a 2.5" straight pipe and a stock turbo.

From what I have been read newer turbo's don't make the noise. They have to be "broken in" so to speak. No Idea how this is true, but both my car's didn't make any noise really until around the 200k then they started to choo a lot. My current daily choo's very loud.

I've always wondering about a 9Blade turbo on a 4 cylinder. That would be cool and loud as hell haha.

I have three crowding 200k miles. One at 226k now I consider the daily. It is not quite stock... :) B6 Bilstein HD are sufficient, and for the last ~140k miles quite comfy. Last issue I had traction-wise involved snow, converted to rink-quality ice. Floor dry/kitty litter got me back in the driveway.

Try installing a metal pancake pipe from a 1.8T -- it greatly increases the turbo noise. And it's a lot cheaper and easier than installing a new turbo.
Also allows for faster turbo spooling= more air= better power/efficiency.

Does it? I would think slower response because the turbo has more volume to pressurize when spooling up. Once the turbo is up to speed and producing the desired pressure, I would think it would provide more air = more power. So slower response, but bigger punch once it arrives.

But there is less resistance to the output of the compressor in a larger volume, so spool is quicker--it's not fighting the pressure it's creating.

I have 2.5" piping from my airbox to my intake manifold with a FMIC in the middle of that. I did have a pancake pipe, but swapped it for a regular round pipe. IDK 100% but I feel like the pancake pipe would interfere with the better laminar flow of the round piping. I also don't have the math part of the brain that will calculate the flow rate of the two pipes to help me find the better one, but basic logic in my lizard brain tell me "round pipe = better pipe". It's all pretty open and the GTB1756VK should be whistling a bit more than it does.

That 9 blade theoretically sounds like a good choice for making more fun noises at a louder volume.
