Hi my first vs diesel
Half way home and I am broke down in Las Vegas
#2 injector pipe squirting from the nut which holds the pipe to the injector.
Guess I need a new pipe.
Where do I get one?

Any help is appreciated.

Partsplace has them. Any junkyard. You can use a hydraulic hose as a short term repair. Or have a line made.

Also, you dont have a TDi. If you have a turbo model, its an IDI-T.

Loosen the line nut at the injector, re-tighten.... repeat several times, the tighten with lots of torque. 17mm open end wrench fits and will do the job!

Injector pipe #2 cylinder

So loosen and retighten several times and then torque in down super tight
Book says 25 N-m which is 18.5 ft-lb, not very much torque
How much torque are you recommending?

All my little skinny arms will put on it ................. never stripped one in 34 years!

At 4:50 am (this morning), I wasn't up to dragging out my Bentley to do the job of researching torque specs! I was only suggesting a procedure that has worked for me. In fact, right after the Malone Tune I got at the TDI Fest in Maine back in September, as we headed on to Novia Scotia, my ALH developed a leak at the injector nut on #1. I did just as I suggested that you do............. presto, no more leak! And, I didn't use a torque wrench in the parking lot of the rest area!

Just trying to be helpful!

Leaky #2 injector

I guess I am a little skittish after two hose failures and now the injector line leak.
I will go boy a 17 mm in the morning and give it a try.

Any other tools I should throw in the trunk. I have a blade screw driver, needle
Nose, and side cutters. And an Allen set so I could change a tire if needed.

I came from Portland to Las Vegas, on to Houston. It has been a nervous trip
Since a fluid leek 5 hrs into the trip.

Either I have the worst example of a VW turbo (ME block with a turbo on it)
(ME knowledge thanks to Steve @ parts place on the phone today)

Or maybe it is just my turn.

Thanks again for your advise.

Also, there is a possibility that the leak is one of those small return hoses that are looped from one injector to the other. Sometimes the leak will be such that it appears to be the nut.

About 15 years ago, my old Jetta with the 1.6 develped a leak at one of those little return lines. I used two of my small rubber bands for orthodontics to secure the leaking hose. They worked long enough for me to replace the hoses......

Think outside the box. Don't let the hand-wringers discourage you! There's a lot of it ... just have to sort it out!

Injector pipe leak

Sorting as fast as I can.
The three return lines were replaced two weeks ago. Even so one is up against
The point of the nut for tightening the injector line. How do you remove the
Return line. I would hate to tear it up from no knowledge.

The return lines just push on and pull off. If they haven't already been replaced with viton, nows a good time to do that. You'll never have to replace them again.

Also, the metal nipple can be bent or pushed over a wee bit away from the nut. Be careful, it can be done!
