  • Hi. I’ve been reading your posts about if the CTS in disconnected from the ECU it makes the timing very advanced. I currently have a short somewhere in my CTS wiring path to the ECU. I hope to address that soon. In vcds when I go into basic settings my timing value on the graph is 255 but in my measuring blocks group 000 and group 004 it is in normal spec. Which one should I trust?

I'm not sure but I'm guessing since one of the vcds modes reads in "basic" mode (no computer/ECU control) and the other is in normal operating mode that may explain the difference. Full advance conditions I noticed were while running in real time but were noted using my ScanGauge not vcds.

To be quite honest, I am confused by your readings. The VCDS is showing you are off the scale for timing. I'd want to have that one right. It could be that you have more than one wire in that injector pump harness bad. I still don't know what CTS stands for.

CTS-Coolant Temperature Sensor in this discussion. Probably not correct but we get by with it. ;)
