Which shocks for my needs?

OK, folks I am tired of crappy roads and a harsh ride.

It isn't like I can feel the pavement - I have 50 series tires that are quite comfy and quiet (not even v-rated). But any time I go over any kind of significant, sharp bump, the suspension crashes.

I am running Koni Reds with stock springs. I am thinking of FSDs.

What else might handle bumps, dips, harsh transitions, and etc. better?

Stock springs? Bilstein TC Sports were nice. Then I went with 03 GLI 1.8T (some say the VR6 is better) springs. No lower than stock, stiffer and well dampened with the TC sports. I wanted lower so I went Eibach / Koni orange. I run 45 series (225-45-17) at 40 PSI and neither setup was harsh

I don't think you'll do better than Special Actives (re-branded FSDs). Reds probalby ride a bit better, but Special Actives will handle better. I've had both in my MKIV and I think it's a tossup, but I tend towards wanting a better ride these days, and a lot of the roads I drive on are truly awful.

Ordered up the special actives, along with all new hardware. They'll go in in a couple of weeks.
Also what helps is that I've moved out of the south side to a nice part of town where the roads are far better!
