Evening all.

I've bought a "hybrid" turbo from a well known seller, but when I asked what exactly it was I was told its a GT1749V with PD170 interals for extra strenght and power...

So is it still a 1749, or is it a 17xx???

Cheers in advance.

Oh, and the guy said it was good for 1.76bar, so thats good for 200hp on my BKD by my thinking??

So that would be the GT1749VC? I think I read that's the PD170 unit and is supposed to be good for 200bhp anyway. I read on a thread that it's a BV43 or a GT1749VC but I'm not sure if they're two similar turbos or are both the same.

If it is the GT1749VC I think it's supposed to have better internals, modern and more up to date.

Anyway that's what I read but best check it out

Still a 1749. If you check the turbo sticky thread you will see the compressor has a .3mm increase inducer over a vb giving it a higher trim.

So is it better? That's the question, are those internals better for a higher boost pressure?

I've done a bit more digging and it is based on the GT1749VC that the PD170 uses, with the same housing.

I don't know what rpm the stated 1.76bar is. That's about 25.5psi if my maths is any good.

I'm still not sure if it should be classed as a hybrid though if it's basically just a standard VC, or wether there is more to making this turbo than meets the eye.

It's a hybrid because it's made from 2 turbo's. However the confusion comes with from what they understand a hybrid is. For us brits we assume it's the same as the likes of a 1752 or 1756 hybrids because of the one word. Hybrid.

Similar to the whole Stage 1, 2, 3 etc

So really it's an upgrade, not a hybrid then?

I don't like the 'stage' thing. A stage 2 custom remap?!? Surly a custom map is a custom map and the only difference is, or should be, hardware.

Anyway. Thank you for your help all.
