I know several folks on here have done the 06-08 B7 swaps but I wondered if the 09-13 2.0 tsi 6sp Quattros would also work? There are a few of them out there and easier to get a better body in the newer ones. Most of the 06-08 B7's I've found have been romped pretty hard by kids.

Thanks QuickTD. So at this point one would need a CR tdi engine longitudinally oriented. Were any donor cars imported into the US with that? Probably V6 tdi quattro cars only?

There's at least one B8 running with an ALH in it already (Link)

As for longitudinal CR TDI's in North America, I believe we only got them in Touaregs, Q5/7's and A6/7/8's. And I'm pretty sure they were all V6's and V8's. Though if the Q5 got the 2.0 (I can't remember) then that may be our only domestic source for a longitudinal CR inline 4.

There's decent B6 and B7 out there that are well taken care of. You just have to look harder. Maybe the trailer parks around Florida and other senior communities? Probably won't have a M/T if that's what you're after, but will likely be low mile and good shape.

A lot of the B7’s I’ve seen over the years did get thrashed on it seems, but nothing like the earlier B8 A4’s that consumed oil like a 2 stroke. Those were beat on and passed around after they were ran into the ground.

Are you looking for a newer car as a swap platform ie B8, or a longitudinal CR swap perhaps? I’ll get a thread going here soon, but I think a longitudinal CR swap can be done in a B6/B7 using almost OE stuff from the VAG parts bin on a CJAA.

I'm considering an early 2000's A6 also. love that longer wheelbase especially since I'm old, tall and fat! i'd also like to use my BHW drivetrain since I have complete passats

I've done a 2003 A6. Nice car, but I bought 6 speed from Franz, and different manual parts from wrecking yards around US.
