Trunk lid piston separated - fixable?

I noticed today that my trunk lid was no longer opening smoothly, instead bopping off the edge and rattling around when it opened all the way. I looked at it and discovered that the piston strut that slows it down as it opens was separated from the body of the vehicle. The springs are fine.

Is that fixable? It's not something I can do myself, but I wonder if the bracket could be welded back on or something. It isn't attached with a bolt or any other kind of fastener, which would make it a fairly easy fix.

Found one of them. I may stop by the dealer to see if I might be able to sweet-talk them into doing a quick-and-dirty even though I'm 6K past the warranty (HA!), but it seems like a fix either of my trusted shops could probably do.
