So I purchased some wheels which are 18x8 offset 45 and pictured below.
I know 225/40/18 is suggested, but would 235/40/18 be better for handling and ride?
Any suggestions by people who have tired a few combinations?
After I do my tires and wheels I want to move on to suspension...
Thanks for the input fellow TDI-ers!

Very pretty wheels, remind me of the OZ Superturismo's I had on a B4 wagon.

Be cautious of the tire width and low aspect ratios.
A 10 mm change in a tire (or rim) width with a 70 or 65 series tire is less of a potential problem than a 10 mm change with the shorter 40 series tires.

If at all possible measure the tire you are considering in its natural, as molded, unmounted state to determine what the bead to bead width is. You'll want a tire that is naturally 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 inched bead to bead to avoid having to 'pinch' a wider bead (bulges out the center of the tread) or 'stretch' a narrower bead (concaves the center of the tread).
