Timing question on a mk1 1.6n/a?

I'll be changing my timing belt on my 83 1.6n/a. Its a new motor with only 1k miles on it. It is about 12 years old and resides in extreme heat on the central valley of Ca. it is showing age and is cooked after all these years.

re-time?

You are asking if the engine needs to be retimed when changing the timing belt?
Yes.
Thanks, I checked with Giles (he did the pump wayback). He suggested setting it up to @ .95mm over the factory .88mm (y)

Vince's HOWTO even says that Giles will recommend 0.95mm, due to all the dynamic advance he builds into his pumps. :)

Money well spent. This truck can sit for months and fires off first time, everytime.
