Sporadic car die

At random, the 2002 VW jetta, when slowing to a stop, the battery light will light and the engine dies. It starts right up usually and may or may not happen again. the battery is fine. because it is random, would this be a faulty idle sensor or throttle adjustment issue? the engine light is not lit. if this is an easy fix, how?

Sounds like a few different issues but crank sensors have been dropping like flies lately. If you have vag com it will show an intermittent fault (not a hard fault to cut the CEL on)
