Anyone with experience on replacing the toothed timing belt on a 1.9TDi PD (ATJ) engine ?

My manuals tells me I need some special tools like the "Pin wrench 3212", "3359 rig pin", "pin wrench 3387", "locking plate T10008", and "crankshaft stop T10050".

But is this tools absolutely nescessary ?

Also the manuals does not tell me to replace the tensioner and / or the water pump, but maybe this is a smart thing to do anyway ?

This is the second TB change (at about 180k km), but I was not the owner of the car when the first TB was replaced at about 96k km.

Yes.

You'll need the 3387 to adjust the tensioner.
You'll need the 3359 to lock the cam
You'll need the T10008 to lock the tensioner.
You'll need the T10050 to lock the crank

The 3212 is used to counterhold the fan that you remove to get room to work.

I have all these tools, but I suspect you're not very near to me.

He he, probably not. I'm in Norway !

Anyway, I got a deal with my locale shop. I fixed a passat with a immob. problem for them, and I can use their special tool for my timing belt replacement :)

But thank you for your reply.
