'99 Golf - hatch unlocks, opens but will not re-latch closed. Key in the hatch lock turns but does nothing.
Try to close the hatch and it bounces back at me.
However - WARM up the hatch (halogen lamp or heat gun) and voila, the hatch latches closed/locked.
I figure we need to get in there and clean/lube up all the moving parts.
My question is this: Is everything we need to lube and clean up located behind the inside hatch trim, or do I need to remove the lock carrier trim as well?
Does anyone have pix of the latching mechanism or lock area? The Bentley means well but leaves a bit too much to my imagination.
