q7 winter tires

What part of the country are you in (and what’s your winter like… deep snow? Ice?)
We use all season Michelin’s on ours all winter in Ohio. If we were in Quebec we’d use studded snow tires all winter.
On my Jetta SportWagen (FWD) I drove all over the Midwest and northeast in the winter so I used skinnier tires on smaller steel wheels in the winter. I liked both Nokian (highly rated and more expensive) and Nexen (cheaper nor as well respected but still awesome in winter vs al seasons).

My buddy runs studded Nokians on his Q5 TDI - absolute beast! Stock size on spare OEM wheels.

I run 18s in winter...... you can't run studs around here, so that's not an option.
I went with 255s simply because of a good deal, but if I were buying new, I'd probably go down more to some 235 pizza cutters.
