My Golf has prob like 1.5” of play in the wheel which I don’t like for my high performance driving. Which component of the steering is likely the culprit? Is there an arm or bushings that should be replaced? Thanks in advance!

There's no one "likely" unfortunately, you'll need to get the front end up off the ground and give everything a wiggle. Could be:

- inner tie rod
- outer tie rod
- ball joint
- rear control arm bushing
- front control arm bushing
- loose subframe (rare, but has happened)

If you have 1.5 inches of travel whatever's worn should be pretty obvious, and I'd start with the tie rods if it's very obvious at the steering wheel itself.

That's well into the "dangerous, may break on you at any time" range.

Get the car on stands and find out what's loose. You'll find it, but there's no way to guess really. Tie rod ends and ball joints are the most likely, but the above list is all in the range of possibilities.

Break a tie rod end or ball joint at speed and you're going to be extremely unhappy.
