My car started flashing the Glow Plug light when i was driving and i turned the car off and it went away, about 30 mins later it started flashing again this time accompanied with the MIL light and a total loss of acceleration going into limp mode. I got the codes read at the local auto zone and the said it was P00AF (Turbo Charger Boost Control A Module). I read this thread real quick (http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=348006) and saw there might be a fix to the problem without replacing the turbo. VW said they tried a good recirculation valve (I'm not sure if that the same thing as the Turbo actuator valve mentioned in the other thread) but they said it was no good and had oil in it, and that the turbo needs replaced for $3300. They did give me the option to also bring in another turbo i just won't have a warranty, but it could save me about $1200. My question is does anybody have any info to help me decide on a new turbo from an aftermarket vendor. I check ID Parts and found 2 options, one being a larger turbo from European TDI's (http://www.idparts.com/borg-warner-cr170-turbocharger-cbeacjaa-p-4090.html) but it mentions that there will need to be modifications done. I do not know much about what would be required but i figured if I'm going to have to replace the turbo i should go ahead and add a little performance for the price over the stock option (http://www.idparts.com/borg-warner-cr140-turbocharger-cbea-cjaa-p-2564.html). Can anyone give me info on what modifications are required or if there is a kit to make the larger turbo work, or even recommendations on other turbo setups? Thanks in advance for any help given.

My problem is i don't have access to my car currently, I broke down in Atlanta last weekend and i live in South Georgia so my car is currently sitting at the dealer outside of Atlanta. The dealer said the mechanic tried a know good recirculation valve but I'm not sure if that is the same thing as the actuator valve or not (I'm pretty turbo illiterate other than the basic operation) but i also only spoke to the service advisor and not the mechanic. Is this something more that i should press to see if they checked the actuator or is the recirculation valve the same thing? I also don't know if there are any other codes other than P00AF because thats all that came up across the auto zone scanner but i will ask the dealer if there are any other codes accompanying it. Its just hard to believe that an engine thats supposed to be a 500k mile engine would need a new turbo at 160k and after loving my car for almost 4 years now, I'm really starting to doubt its reliability and second guessing the ownership due to the heavy maintenance I've had to perform on it in the last year or so.
