Oil Pan

Recently purchased a used TDI Wagon. Went to change the oil this weekend and discovered "someone" has ruined the threads on the oil drain hole, ... threads are cross-threaded and stripped. i'm looking at replacing the pan.

Has anyone done this ? Looks like a fairly simply task. Also, ... trying to decide whether to simply get a all aluminum pan or the steel bottom/aluminum hybrid.

I'd appreciate ANY thoughts, suggestions, in-put.

James you could put in a heli coil and then a Fumoto drain valve thus removing the need to replace the whole pan.

Look at part number 1047. Don't forget the gasket.
