I had the oil change in our 2015 Passat TDI recently. They used Liqui Moly 507 00 5W30 . All seem fine until about halfway home, 35 miles or so, the yellow "oil can" symbol started flashing occasionally. I pulled over and checked and the oil wasn't low. When I got home and let it set for about an hr and then checked it I discovered it was at least 1/2" above the top of the full hash-mark on the dipstick. I used my oil extractor and got it down to the correct level. In fact it was over filled by about a quart. It still has the occasional flashing yellow "oil can" indication on the screen and now it also says "service oil soon" upon starting. It's running fine and no check engine lights. Any suggestions, thanks?

did you reset the service reminders when you changed the oil?

i wonder if something happened to the oil pump and you're getting intermittent low pressure issues.

Skimax, you say its running fine and no CEL, but you are getting these oil can warnings and service oil soon messages. Did you use an OBDII reader to see if there are any codes set?

The oil level is right at the top of the hashmark on the dipstick. I'll try taking a bit more out. No "red" oil can so the pressure seems to be OK according to the idiot light.

I haven't checked for codes yet because my windows laptop died and I'm waiting for my computer guy to give me a replacement so I can use my vagcom

thanks for the help.

No codes, as far as I remember. Yes, the sensor tends to read low in my case too 🤷‍♂️

So an oil /filter change at the dealer I bought if from new in 2017 cured the issues. Thanks for the help. I'm planning on trading it in on a 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid next week. We don't need 2 sedans any more so we are keeping our Chevy Volt as we have solar and most of our driving other than infrequent long trips are sun powered. It'll be a lot easier to fit our bikes, etc in the pickup.

It's been a great car, no issues like heater core, turbo, coolant leaks, etc. It never had a check engine light in almost 6 years of ownership. All I did was replace the front sway bar links.

cheers

Good luck let us know what you get for trade on it, I fear market value for these has tanked.
