Well maybe not grinding, but slight noise, when shifting into first while stopped. Happens about 10 % of the time.
Any ideas? This is on my favorite, the 2001 Jetta TDI, which has 160 Kmiles. Fluid was changed last year. I have never bled or flushed the clutch cylinders.
Thanks,

I had close to the same issue, and after replacing the shift tower bearing/bushing, relay lever, relay lever bushings, and installed a TT short shifter most of the problem went away. I recently did BFI stage I mounts and silicone vacuum lines and my clutch pedal vibe went away, brakes felt stronger, clutch seemed to have a stronger engagement and after all of this I don't have that problem anymore. The mounts may just be a placebo effect but it seemed doing this in stages made a difference at each stage.
