OK, I have had my VAG-COM for awhile now but just this year I have been getting the following when I have checked to see just why my CEL came on:

No Faults Found
or DTCs not supported by controller
or a communication error occurred

I have updated to the latest release of the software but it will not show why the CEL came on. It will let me clear it and do other things but this is confusing me. Am I having an electrical issue or something?

What VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) software version are you running and What interface do you have?

If this is the MK4 Tdi, do you have that result in other modules, like 03 - ABS brakes and 17 - Instruments for example?

I was able to clear the DTC but I still don't know what triggered it.

What are the specs of your computer that you are using? Can you install VCDS on a different computer and try again?

My VCDS just arrived from Ross Tech. What is the preferred method- keep your car running while performing diagnostics, or just turn the key part way? I assume for any engine diagnostics the car has to be running, but what about just doing some basic tests?

Apologize for such a simple question. Looking forward to using/learning how to use my new scan tool.

Engine does not have to be running to scan ECM for some items, DTCs for example. But for some readings the engine would need to be running. Best thing you can do right off the bat with VCDS is an autoscan and save it.

You can print it out or save it as a *.txt file. This way you will have part numbers and soft coding of all your control modules. Bonus points if you run though and do controller maps (will try to make a video showing this soon and why it is a great idea).

Pugman, can you try a different computer and see if you get the same results. How about a different car? My gut feeling is your computer is the cause, need to rule that out.

DSG, DFP regen Vagcom questions

What are the the steps for resetting the DSG after the service? Also, can you "flash" upgrade the DSG using VAGCOM or does that have to be done at the dealer using some other device? Just curious on the latter question.

Where do you find information regarding DFP regens? I'd like to know how many my car has done and any other regen info the ECU has stored.
Thanks...

VAGCOM- scan/connect to Honda Accord

Anyone trying connecting and scanning 2007 or newer Honda's ?
I don't what the ECU plug looks like yet on my wife's Accord, but if they match up, is there any possibility of damaging my new VAGCOM tool?
