New noise from windshield wipers

I'd check around the cowl to see if anything is stuck near the wiper motor mount (leaves, a rag). That sounds like the motors are lugging.

It sounds like it's lugging and / or a bearing is bad in the motor.. I'll have to take a closer look, but I usually fill up once a week an while filling I open the hood do a visual inspection and check the oil. I also remove any leaves at that time. Thanks for the reply.

Bump.

Did you ever find the source of the noise on your 2011? My 2012 just started making a noise @ 40k miles.

Mine turned out to be a bad motor. After disassembly, all linkage moved freely and motor still made straining noise when cycled on without linkage attached.

The plastic cover that seals to the bottom of the windshield wasn't fully engaged with the molding, allowing water to drain directly onto the motor.
