Are you sure they will fit all A4 model TDI's because I was told by the dealer and read in a post here at TDIClub, that the new belt won't fit on (say) a 2000 TDI. ???????????

Just a question I'd like to know the answer too, because I already paid for a 40,000 mile timing belt change and would like to get the new belt when the next change comes around.

mahatma: i think the part numbers you quoted are for the old 60k belt and tension roller. the three vw dealers i checked with in southern arizona all said they didn't know what i was talking about when i mentioned the new 80k replacement belt. the info i now have indicates the 80k belt ends with the single letter "M" and the matching tension roller ends with the single letter "N". the numbers are all the same as you stated, it's just the suffix letters that are different. i believe this is correct.

AFAIK, all the ALH model engines (all the North American A4 cars, in other words) all use exactly the same parts. The engines are identical. They roll off the same line in Germany, then the factory stuffs 'em in whatever cars they happen to be making on a given day. It matters not.
