So is it just me or is the MK7 steering wheel in the GTI and TDi highly uncomfortible compared to the MK6? To me the 6 is fatter and rounder and easy to hold.

The MK7 in my TDI and GTI is thinner and has a pressure point on it since it is not round and has a ridge that runs on the front of the steering wheel creating a pressure point on your palm.

I would love to trade out a MK6 GTI steering wheel in my either MK7 or use an after market product to improve comfort.

How do you feel and what suggestions might you have?

I have the same fleet, Mk6 and Mk7 Golf TDIs and a Mk7 GTI. I prefer the GTI steering wheel to both of them. To me it seems thicker and I like the "flattened area" on the bottom.

I preferred the the MK6 as well. The wheel feels fine, just the MK6 felt better. I also liked the tactile feedback of the steering wheel buttons on the MK6. The MK7 feels slightly cheaper on that respect, not terrible but worth noting in my opinion.
