lock vandalized; what are my options?

Someone vandalized my 02 jetta. Keyed the door and destroyed the lock cylinder in the drivers door.

What are my options? I thought about just getting a replacement cylinder from a part-out, but then the ignition won't match. How hard is it to replace the ignition switch, and do I have to worry about the immobilizer if I do?

TIA

Do you want to keep the key-in the door function? If so, I believe you can order a new lock using your VIN at a dealer who should know what keys your currently have.

If not, you could install a blank.

Piece of cake. Get a luck cylinder from a junk yard. Make sure it is not seized! (get the key that comes with it, it makes the process easier) Disassemble the lock and rekey it to your lock. When I went to the junk yard, I took the best lock cylinder I could find and several combinations of the lock pins from other lock cylinders. It's not hard to do. Just a bit tedious.

Here is the info if you have the lock code:

Disassemble the lock:

This is for an MK3, but the lock cylinder is the same, follow these steps for rekeying to match your key.

none, sold it.
...and if the OP can't rekey it, a locksmith can. Bring the broken lock cylinder and a replacement & they should be able to get it going.

I've got a cylinder and matching valet key. Won't start your car or turn your ignition cylinder though. I also have the rest of the key set if you want to replace them all. It's from an 02 golf.
