Shucks.... for a while my key has not opened the door automatically, but the key would open the door and deactivate the alarm. This afternoon, the key opened the door, but when I opened the back door the alarm sounded and using the key in the door or the ignition did not deactivate the alarm.

Thoughts?

The key lock cylinder or module is bad, possibly both.

After looking up alarm issues I discovered I should have done some research before posting... It looks like there are some good posts on fixing the switches and solder joints that frequently fail on the door lock modules.

If you have a link to a good how to for taking the door apart I am now looking for that. Ok... I found a pretty good explanation here:

I vote for just fixing the solder joints, but I am biased because that has worked for me on more than just my own cars.

The labor is the same, pretty much, but you don't have to futz around with the switches.

Cheers!
