It died, so I threw it away

My OEM battery bit the dust. I charged it overnight and still no power the next day. So I went online and ordered an Optima Battery with Reversed poles so that the positive is toward the passanger side and the ground is toward the driver side. I ordered the Orange top, but they shipped me a red top type R, which means Reversed.

It fits in the compartment nicely and ... get this ... I didn't even have to reset the radio.

All is well.

Oh, BTW, the new battery was 119.00 delivered, with no core deposit, and free shipping from DriverFX.com

Question: You wanted the poles reversed or they just sent you one which were reversed. And why is that better?

Most U.S. cars use a battery where the positive terminal is on the left side as you face the battery. When installed in a VW, that puts the positive terminal on the wrong side. The battery cable is not long enough in some cases to stretch to the proper terminals. By reversing the terminals, everything is where they belong.
