No insurer would ever pay me what my '03 is worth to me. Or if they would, the premiums would be ridiculous.
I roll with "liability" only. Cheap, and lets me save up for 'whatever happens'. Take care of it my damned self.
This is what I do. Costs about 1000 more per year for me to have full coverage. Just not worth it when I can go buy another tdi for like 2 years worth of insurance premiums. Worst case scenario I have a parts car to go along with the new purchase. Long term it's not bad I guess. Cars can be expensive either way

I have full coverage on my car, has come in handy once already. But only cost a few hundred extra a year.

I dropped full coverage on my Wagon years ago. In MA you have collision coverage if the accident is ruled not your fault. My feeling is if I wreck the car and it's my fault then I'll eat the cost. Odds are if the car isn't completly obliterated I'd keep it anyway and either fix it or part it out. Might not even file a claim to avoid a salvage title if I was going to fix it. I had my Golf repaired after a at fault accident in Canada years ago. It drove great after, and no salvage title.
