In-Between Scan Option

... would love to find a manufacturer that makes something in between a full-tilt, ready for professional-use scanner, such as Ross-Tech, and an LED-only small line scanner, such as ScanGuage. Does anyone make a small, customizable screen the size of a cell phone touchscreen that allows for OBD channel inputs but is customizable to build graphs, time-plots, instantaneous pressures, etc. that could be inserted in / on the dash? On long trips, I would love to be able to glance at a handful of stats sitting close-by the steering wheel on a small screen, not on a laptop.

Do a search for VAD Mobile. It is a VW specific scanner a lot like VCDS, but it runs on a Palm device. If you already have a palm it's a pretty good deal. If you do not have a Palm, they will sell you one with the device/app. With a Palm it's about the same price as VCDS, but a lot more portable.
