Hi All

I just completed replacement of camshaft sensor for my B7 Passat (engine CAYC). Sensor is located behind the timing belt (so had to loosen the belt and make sure timing was all correct).

To get access to the camshaft sensor connector I had to remove the fuel lines, wiring, common rail and intake manifold.

While I had these components removed I taught it would be a good idea to clean out the shudder valves, intake manifold and intake ports (includes the valves aswell).

So the issue I am confused on is, in order to clean each intake valves 1 by 1, I need to make sure that the actual valves inside are closed. I've read online that you can do this by removing the cam cover and looking at the cam lobes pointing up. However is there another way to make sure that the valves are closed without having to remove the cam cover?

Been also reading online that if you set each cylinder to TDC than the valves will be closed.

Any help on this CAYC Passat engine would be greatly appreciated :)
