Hello everyone, I am heavily leaning towards the purchase of a 2012 jetta TDI automatic (base model).

Curious about what you guys are paying, Im getting quotes from 23k to 24k...I am in the Chicagoland area.

Also is the automatic a DSG? When I am at the VW site it says DSG in certain areas of the selection process and not in others (says '6 speed automatic with tiprtonic and sport mode' on the main selection page).

26K for a white with cornsilk DSG with Kessy, Nav, Sunroof, rubber TDI mats, mini spoiler, stainless steel exhaust and their cargo secure velcro thing (technical term) for the trunk.

Yes DSG = automatic.

Go to truecar.com put in all the specs for the car you are looking for. Negotiate to a price between dealer cost and invoice.

Has the TDi Protection Kit ($430 MSRP) includes the cargo liner, all weather mats.

MSRP $25,075

I paid $23,150.00 for it.

Cincin, i actually walked out of the dealership and said ill just go buy another toyota, and the sales guy freaked and then said he would settle. The head sales guy never actually came to try and make a deal, and i confronted him about that.

I got that exact same number from 3 separate dealers around me (Northern NJ). I couldn't decline the mat kit or first aid kit and no one would take them off the price. VW is really concerned for my, and my mats', well being.

The TDi is ONLY available in the 6 Speed Manual OR the 6 Speed Automated Manual (DSG) transmission. There is no option for a traditional automatic (with torque converter) in the TDi.

If you get an automatic, it will be a DSG

Good luck on your purchase! The $22K mark may be hard to do on a DSG TDi as that would be below net dealer cost per true car.

Same car for the same price, here. Just a week ago!

I got mine in Black (only difference). Other options mentioned above are the same.

So far I love it, but it's still honeymoon season. The MSRP was $28,877, I paid $26, 075. Also did the 0.9% financing.... only paying $600 for finance charges over 60 months.

It looks like most dealers are willing to cut the MSRP down to about 500-1000 over their invoice, even though the cars are in demand. The new 0.9% is only for Jettas. I would have gotten a Passat TDI if available, but they are on back-order and best rate from VW Finance is 2.9%.

First Post---Been reading over the forum for the last month and half after I got my Metallic Grey TDI DSG Auto in Feb. LOVE IT! Anyways I ended up getting the Prem w/Nav for $25,500 out here in Oregon. This is not my first VW but I've always gotten manuals. If I didn't have to drive in traffic a lot I would have held out for a manual....Still it's a great car and still breaking it in.

Purchased my first TDI last night. Got the premium version DSG (did not want the Nav, keyless, trim, or fog lights) with the moonroof and Fender sound system. They threw in the following:

Rubber floor mats (surprised at how much I like these)

$24,800 before tax and license. 1.9% apr for 72 months (I always pay off early).
Got bumper to bumper extended warranty for 100k or 6 years for $1,200. Thought it was a good deal.

6spd man, nav & sunroof for $24K. (before tax etc). 0% interest rate. A crazy deal IMO.

Went with one of my sisters today to help her buy a 2012 TDI DSG Premium. $26,700 sticker, she paid $24,700 bottom line out the door, including splash guards, with 0.9% for 60. Taxes are extra and a separate transaction.
