Might have to buy a title and VIN plate from a burned or otherwise totalled U.S cruiser and do it that way.

I know folks that do that with old cars in Cali and places that have tough smog tests.
You just buy an older(and smog exempt) version of your vehicle with a good title and swap papers.
Cops will never know.Nor care.
Have to be truthful when you sell it.

Or you could just form an LLC in say New Mexico, have the LLC own the cruiser and keep it registered it in Canada.
Long as it has a Canada tag on it you can drive it in the US all you want.
