Glove box door difference

Just wanted to know if anyone used new glow box lid in older car? My POS glove box just broke, went to dealer and new 2003 cars have different part # 1J1857121E, my 2001 vw has 1J1880882D? Should I use new part #?

Searched for the part# you listed for the '03 on Impex and got this:
1J1857121E2QL = $69.78
1J1857121E3SG = $71.37
1J1857121E4TE = $71.37

Descriptions for all three were "glove lid". As far as fitment goes I'm not for sure if an '01 lid and an '03 lid are inter-changeable. I would assume they are but you never know. Probable difference would be trim colour. If your hinge broke you might want to consider a dampenerectomy on the new glove box lid.
