fuel pump question

Im getting ready to pull the fuel injection pump off of my 2000 jetta, it is leaking at the top real bad. That being said I wanted to send it to someone to get that fixed and maybe tune it for better fuel mileage does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help or thoughts.

Replacing the top 2 seals is relatively easy, the kits are cheap, and you don't need to remove the pump. If you don't feel up to tackling it yourself, find a local guru to do it.

BE SURE to scribe/mark and thoroughly clean the pump before opening it up so you can align things for initial start afterwards. Whoever does it will need vagCom/vcds to setup IQ afterwards.

I don't know of any changes that can be made to the pump to increase MPG unless the pump has some problems currently. You can tweak IQ, which might give a bump in MPG at the expense of performance (both slight changes).

Anybody sell the full rebuild for the pump on a ALH? I have a 2003 jetta and it idles rough,but runs excellent,I scan it and comes back with bad fuel pump rotor looking for a rebuild,because to buy someone else's high mileage is about 500.00 and new they are around 1800. Thanks
