[SOLD] FS: 03 2dr 5sp BAD MOTOR [W. Massachusetts]

For sale is my 03 2dr 5sp with 354k miles and a bad motor. The quote I received to get it to where it was, for rebuilt head, piston, injector and the turbo it is tuned for is close to $5k, and I'm not prepared to go that route. I will be taking offers for the following 10 business days. If, by next Friday, I've received no acceptable offers, I'm going to have this repaired to run stock. I'm asking $4,000 and that can include delivery if you are within 200 miles of the vehicle.
The car is located in W. Massachusetts at a TDIclub trusted mechanic, who can verify the condition of the vehicle on this thread only. Please do not call him, as he is not being paid to answer every tirekickers phone call. Ditto for emails/PM's. If you are serious about the vehicle, in the area, are willing to put in a legitimate offer, and you have the money to back that offer, I can offer to have the vehicle towed to you on a flatbed within a 200 mile range from zip code 01001 (Agawam, MA) if you so desire.
The damage is not due to a broken timing belt or any sort of collision.

Please post your questions about the mechanical and cosmetic condition of this vehicle on this thread only, as you are likely to have at least some of the same questions someone else does, and it would be appreciated if you did not make me or the mechanic respond to the same question several times. The car is in exceptionally good cosmetic shape considering its mileage, and this can be confirmed by the mechanic. There is chipping on the hood and above the front windshield, but does not have any significant rust or damage on the body otherwise. It has lived in Texas, Virginia, and New Jersey.

To add some details:
the head is not rebuildable, 1 valve is smashed sideways through the valve seat. Lifter bore is heavily scored, cam scored. #2 piston is pitted and broken on top, the cylinder bore "looks ok". Should be mic'd for wear, has over 300k. Rod(s) need to be measured, just to be sure. The injectors have aftermarket nozzles, #2 nozzle was smashed, may have broken injector. This cylinder was 1/2 full of diesel when the head was pulled. The 17/22 turbo was siezed from piston/head pieces, does turn now. Vnt mechanism siezed.
May have more lower end damage, have not pulled pan. Cylinder head is removed.

Long story short - best to replace this engine than to rebuild.

The body and interior of the car are in excellent condition. Does not look like a 300k mile car. Has coil-over suspension, nice wheels, lots of other bolt-ons. Definetly worth fixing.

As stated, please no phone calls asking ?? can I drive this home or ?? Please post questions, the owner and I will answer.

Never been smoked in.

I've owned it since April 13.

I'm the third owner.

Partial documentation (more from the second owner than the first). Clean title.

Black cloth.

Clean Carfax and Autocheck; no collisions and no paint.

the basics :
-has it ever been smoked in ?

Nope, not velour-y.

Amazingly, I have no pics. I'll contact the previous owner to see if he has any, and try to make it to the shop on Friday. I'm in grad school and it's the last three weeks of the semester, and the shop is an hour and a half round trip for me.

Car is up on ebay this week. Will be gone by the end of the week. Willing to remove certain items from the list if it will make a difference (e.g. Provent -$100, chipped ECU -$495, NIB clutch -$550, rims w/ newer tires -$1200, TB kit -$235... etc). Make an offer or forever hold your peace.

Why can't this car be in the mid atlantic area? It's a clone to mine. I'd buy the whole mess right now. I just got a GLX salvage Passat in Mass and had to pay 725$ to get it shipped to Charlotte and then drive to Charlotte to dolly it home. I'd love to have most of your mods.
