Anyone know the actual VW part number for the both the fill/drain plug and more importantly the crush washer or 0 ring seal for the differential or as they say call it in the Bentley ' The Final Drive' on our 2004-2005 Passat with the 01V Transmission?
This is just the theaded cap and its seal or crushwasher parts number so I can order it.

I know I'm probably the only guy here who is going to drain and refill the final drive. On my Bently they only show one (1) theaded plug (item #4 on the parts break down.) I assume that serves both as the drain and fill plug as in suck the old 75w90 out and squirt in the new 75w90 with those large suction / pressure guns they sell at places like NAPA that both suck and squirt like a giant syringe?

No your not the only guy. I am going to do it also.

I have in my hands two plugs that I got from Gunther VW a few months ago, one for the Transmission and one for the Final Drive.

Not sure exactly which is which, but I think...

01V 409 057 is for the Final Drive

and

01V 321 379 is for the Transmission.

Be sure the verify which is which. They are both correct part numbers.

EDIT: I messed up the part number for the transmission plug. I was looking at the invoice, which does not give a good part description as well as looking at the packages of the plugs. I must of gotten confused, but the correct part number 01V 321 377 is the transmission plug.

That other number is a gold mine.
The 01V 321 379 is the Check Fill Plug Seal
The 01V 409 057 must be the Final Drive as you guessed - one question - you wrote you had two 'Plugs' in your hand. Is it really a metal threaded sealing plug in your hand with that 01V 409 057 on the bag or is it the ' seal' to that final drive plug?

While your on the same project let me give you more OEM numbers if you do the whole tranny.

01V 409 057 u'r number we beleive to be either the final drive plug or it's seal (one or the other)
01V 321 377 Drain Plug and Seal (comes as a pair)
01V 321 371 ATF Pan Gasket
01V 325 429 ATF Filter (some come with seal to valve body -where u press it in)
01V 325 443 ATF Filter seal to valve body ( on some oem filters w/small upcharge)
01V 321 373 (1) of the 27 Pan Bolts if you lose one
G052145S2 (1) Liter of VW/Audi 75W90 Gear Oil for Final Drive (all you need)
G052162A2 (1) Liter of VW/Audi Transmission Fluid (Amber Color)
4A0805163 (1) Belly Pan Clip for the Screw ( you may lose one)
4A0805121A (1) Under panel clip
0009890707-10 (1) liter ATE Brake Fluid

Drain/Fill Plug Torque to 59 Foot Lbs/80Nm
New Drain Plug Torque to 30 Foot Lbs/40Nm
27 Torx Pan Screws Torque to 84 Inch Pounds/ 10Nm
Final Drive Plug 30 Foot Lbs.
Two retaining screws holding the ATF filter up 54 Inch Pounds/ 6Nm

(some of these torque settings differ at various sites) I would re-check them all on someones Bentey if you don't have one. Sort of a scattered pain search.

and the other 1% minority who change their Final Drive Oil.

Ok, esctuning.com shows a picuture of VW OEM number 01V 409 057 esc's part number ES#268085 and for roughy $9 you get the Final Drive Drain Plug and the Seal as a pair. Impex shows it too, but doesn't show a picture nor does their description tell you the seal is included. The just say ' plug.'
Guess this is the way VW forces us into their advice of changing both the plug and seal. I can see changing the seal or crush washer as necessary - not re-using the metal plug I don't get. I read a non confimed rumor that VW feels the new threads on an unused plug further helps prevent leaks. Dunno, it's beyond my comprehension but thanks for finding me that OEM number.

Hey Blair,

Yes 01V 409 57 is a plug with a seal. I messed up the earlier because I was also looking on the invoice the number for the transmission plug and seal. It is actually 01V 321 377. You are correct the "379" is the Check fill plug o-ring seal.

Just to note, Gunther VW parts guy told me 01V 325 429 filter now comes with the valve body seal. The OE filter they sent me is packaged with the seal on the tube. It appears the filter is made by IBS FILTRAN. Made in Germany.
