Ever had a cv axle make a wheel hub drag?

Noticed one of mine leaking some grease when reassembling. Good used cv axle when torqued down wont allow wheel to spin freely. Old one will. No noticeable damage wear or blemishes. Came from running car

I checked that first. Found maybe an imperfection in hub housing or spot where a po had swapped hub bearings and maybe hit the housing that was rubbing the tapered part of the axle. I used a flat file to bring it down. It still barely rubbed. I installed and took for a test run, stopped rubbing after that.

I had a wheel bearing fail a year ago. Pinched for time i stole the entire hub assembly off of one of my parts passats. No telling what she's been through.
