Engine Rebuild

Hello,
It’s been awhile since I’ve been on here. I’m looking for the best place to get parts for a complete rebuild of my BHW. It’s using oil really bad and I think I’ve got a back cylinder cuz I’ve got a dead miss most of the time. TIA!!

When you price out the parts, you might be best buying one of the remanufactured engines from vw. That way no worry about any errors and comes with a warranty. You might find you have scored cylinders, any number of other items.

I'd also be sure to verify it needs a rebuild. Does is have low compression in that cylinder?

The VW unit comes with new head,cam, crank, pistons, etc,etc, geared bs, oil pump....If you price out all these items, it will get your attention for sure, cutting corners doesn't make sense. You might find a used engine from someone who wrecked their car and kept the car hoping to sell parts. Halfassed diesel engine rebuilds usually are a disaster, using non oe parts to avoid the high prices of oe parts.
