I don't know, but either way you need to remove it, which is the hard part.

Just fixed my brother's car's door switch following the following posts on vwvortex.com:

There was a cracked solder that I fixed by remelting it with a solder iron. The fix took 20 seconds; it's all the removing and reinstalling that's time consuming. That and diagnosing the issue. I'll need to do mine now, as it's acting up while driving. I'd roll over a bump, or take a curve, and the door ajar warning would start beeping. Pretty annoying.

My '04s driver's door switch began randomly not regestering that the door was open this winter, to the point of where I bought a new latch assembly (from 1stvwparts.com for about a $130 savings), but as soon as the weather warmed up it has been working fine, so I never installed the latch, but will when it acts up again. Maybe the grease was getting thick.

I have heard that by '04 most of the latch switch issues were resolved, but mine shure was flaky, but the latch I bought is yet a new number (a supercession) that just came out a couple of months ago. Zeb at 1stvwparts.com had to ask me for a slight adjustment in price too because this came out AFTER I ordered it and BEFORE it was shipped. I think the part number ends in "AK" or "AS" (I'd have to check my receipt to be sure). It is certainly a new part number number.
